Come join us on August 1, 2009, in the cool mountain community of Forbestown for Forbestown DAZE!!
This is a family friendly event with no admission. Both entertaining and educational, the day kicks off at 9am with a flag raising ceremony at the Yuba Feather Museum. Vendors, music, food, historical reenactments and a parade all combine in a beautiful mountain setting. The event is sponsored by the Forbestown Advisory Council, Feather River Recreation and Parks District (www.frrpd.com) and the Yuba Feather Museum. Additionally there will be gunfights, a flea market and demonstrations of logging and gold mining at the museum.
The annual parade begins at noon and there is still time to enter. There is NO FEE to enter the parade. We are looking for entrants in the following categories:
Entertainment: groups or individuals including clowns, music, baton twirlers, dancers, jugglers, etc.
Animals: led by hand, ridden or held
Antique Vehicles; cars, trucks, tractors, wagons
Unique Vehicles: anything you can get to roll down the street SAFELY powered by man, machine or animal
Organizations: show your group spirit!
Commerical: a FREE chance to advertise your business!!
Each parade category will have prizes awarded. Call Alan Morrison at 530-675-1127 for information. This is the perfect venue for youngsters, the parade route is not long and the setting includes lots of tall pines for shade.
Vendors, you also still have time to sign up for one of the few remaining spaces. Call Patty at 530-675-9222 for availability and space sizes. We encourage home crafters as well as merchants to take advantage of this great opportunity.
This year's theme is "Crazy Hats & Hair". Categories will include, biggest, prettiest, ugliest, best Group of Hats and of course, CRAZIEST! Prizes will be awarded and if you don't have a hat already, stop by the booth at DAZE and create your own CRAZY Hat on the spot ( a small donation is requested).
We truly hope you'll consider joining us for our annual community celebration. Forbestown is located approx. 22 miles east of Oroville. Our history includes one of the largest producing gold mines in California and lots of friendly people!
