Elk Grove Parents Unite to Supply Their Students with Gear

New Schools’ Boosters Burst on Scene with a Huge Fireworks Sales Bang!

Booth Opens June 28th,  Noon-10pm

Booth Hours June 29-July 4th  8am-10pm

(Elk Grove, CA) In light of the state budget crunch and quickly depleting funds for extracurricular activities, parents at Elk Grove’s Cosumnes Oaks High and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School have joined forces to raise funds to ensure their kids activities don’t suffer.  They’re raising money for uniforms and other gear by selling fireworks.

Parents and students from their schools’ athletic teams, music and arts programs and clubs will happily accept Cash and Credit Cards for your purchase at Laguna Blvd. and Franklin next to Big Spoon Yogurt in the Shopping Center anchored by Safeway.  Pre-sold scrip (coupons sold by the student's and parents) will also be redeemed at the booth.  The booth opens Sunday June 28 from Noon-10pm and remains open thereafter from 8am to 10pm through (and including) July 4th.

As students of Cosumnes Oaks High School and their campus-mates at  Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School wrap up their inaugural first year, the students’ parents came to a stark realization. “  The startup funds that were generously provided by the Elk Grove Unified School District to cover extracurricular items like athletic team uniforms and equipment, uniforms for the marching band, etc. are almost gone and very soon the teams and clubs will need to be self-sufficient in order to cover costs - especially as state funding gets tighter.  So we started our booster’s organization to ensure that our kids educational and extra-curricular experience continues to be the best it can be,” says Boosters President Robert Morgester.

“Our first project is designed to set off a big bang, actually thousands of them; if you pardon the pun.   Fireworks are a perfect match for Elk Grove.  We’re a patriotic bunch out here.  And this year, as you enjoy your Independence Day Celebration you’ll know you’re helping local kids learn and thrive,” adds Membership & Communications Director Luis Patino.
