Happy Day-After-Mother's Day! Hopefully the day was special for you, and you were recognized and appreciated for all your contributions to your children.

Since Mother's Day is often a time to reflect on the various joys of motherhood, this week we'll look at what you're doing to preserve your special mommy memories.

What are you doing to be sure you remember the funny anecdotes, major milestones and wonderful everyday moments of your children's lives? So many humorous episodes and sweet stories go unremembered and unnoted, because a mom is certain she won't forget - and probably she won't, for the next week or two. But then details start to get fuzzy, and before long what might have been a special memory is basically forgotten.

There are many easy ways to keep track of special moments:

• Take a picture - nothing captures a stage of life or an interaction better than a photo, and digital pix make storage easy

• Write a blog and share your experience with other moms or family members, maybe even right here on SacMomsClub!

• Have a family calendar big enough to write extra notes on; even a couple words will remind you of an event or a story

• Use a notebook. Some moms have a special book just for writing down anecdotes whenever they have something to remember

• Keep an ongoing scrapbook

• Get a little journal-type book for each child, and update it regularly

Whatever you decide to do, just be sure you're taking a little time to save the memories that you'll cherish in the months and years to come. Down the road, revisiting your words or pictures will make it feel a little like Mother's Day all over again.

Your assignment: Take action this week to preserve a special memory of something going on in your child's life right now - a cute phrase, exciting first, favorite outfit, or funny behavior. Set aside 5-10 minutes to capture, in words or with a picture, a moment you want to remember.
