Ah, I have had many a year when the pumpkins have remain uncarved. I totally get where you are coming from. I would suggest trying to make an evening of the tree decorating. Set aside an evening, maybe Friday, mull some wine, cider, make some fondue and get to decorating. Whatever you do, enjoy yourself, even if you skip the decorating and head just to the wine. :)
