I must have a lot in common with your son. I, too, am not so down with the artistic thing. I HATED book projects, so I will feel no compunction to "help" Em with hers. Now, when it comes to essay writing I may have issues...:)
It sounds like this was a good experience for you and your son. I especially appreciate you talking to your son about higher expectations and paying attention to other parents', I mean kids', projects. Those are great conversations to have with kids.
