When I was a kid, we lived in Los Angeles for a time. Our mother's boyfriend was hired to be a "Mannie" (a man-nannie housekeeper) for a celebrity-wife's kids. We would hang out with my mom's boyfriend and the kids some weekends. The kids' father was Mike Farrell, 'BJ Honeycutt" on M.A.S.H.
When we went in to meet him he was proped up on the floor of his modest home, coloring in a color book with color pencils. I was impressed! I don't think he wanted to be obtrusive when children where coming over to meet him.
He was and is a wonderful gentlemen, humanitarian and a vegetarian, too. At the time, he owned an all-vegetarian restaurant that he had invited us to go to. It was fantastic!
