Every object in this world has a story about how it was made. Community leaders are trying to build a story for the new Sacramento Children’s Museum (SCM) scheduled to open in 2010. Long awaited, this new gem of Sacramento will offer imaginative, hands-on environments to provide children (ages 0-8) with a gateway for opening up their minds to developing new abilities, building confidence, and making connections between their dreams and their real world experiences.
Help build the story of this new museum! Become a member of the Founding Family and you are building a cornerstone in Sacramento. A minimum donation of $500 will help SCM open its doors in January. We have a goal of 500 families and to date we have just over 100. We need an additional 400 families to take part in building our story!
Interested? But you don’t have $500? You only have $5? You’re still helping to build our story.

The Sacramento Children’s Museum (SCM) was founded in 2004. It is the vision of two teachers who saw the need for inspiring learning through interactivity. The SCM seeks to build an environment that makes learning exciting and enriching for children and their families through exploration and hands-on activities. The desire in Sacramento to build a children's museum was so great, that the organization quickly grew to include local business-people, children's advocates, educators, physicians, attorneys, librarians, and others. As a group, we embarked on a journey to determine how we could best meet the needs of the children 0-8 years of age, in our community, and the Sacramento Children's Museum is the result. There are currently 10 members on the SCM's board of directors, as well as five advisory board members. The Sacramento Children’s Museum is a non-profit corporation.
