wifemotherdaughtersister - > champagne taste on a beer budget -> out of shape...and out of style
out of shape...and out of style
today i did something monumental.  i gathered an entire mountain of clothes that i just had to accept that i will never fit into again.  i decided to sell them.  my most favorite t-shirts, sexy shirts, tank tops, beloved shoes, sexy pj's, all of it i finally decided to part with.  i get to the crossroads, wait about 30 minutes ( a lifetime with a wiggly toddler) and waited.  i thought ok, maybe at best i'll get $40.  i steal glances and see my pre baby life being seperated into two piles, memories flashing with each shirt i see.   then she calls me up to the counter and all of the clothes are back in the bag!!  "i didn't find anything today, the clothes are just a little too old for us"  take it in.  the clothes are too old for us.  so not only are they clothes that i will never squeeze into, but even if i DID, i would be a fashion has been.  i don't even remember the drive home, i was so stunned.  i mean it's not like i came in with 1999 strapped to my back and said hey these high heel sneakers are awesome!  give me top dollar for them!
at least my earrings and lipgloss will never go out of style right?????

How rude! Crossroads is kinda snotty anyways. I'm sure your old clothes are plenty cool. :)

I have a wardrobe myself that I don't fit into anymore!  I keep thinking to myself, "give it a few more months".  I'm getting pretty tired of opening a closet door full of clothes and finding nothing to wear!

To bad the buyer didn't just take at least a couple of tops!  And how tacky to tell you that your clothes are "too old for us".  I'm pretty sure they have stuff in there from the '60's...now that's old!  Haha.

Oh well, I guess you could just donate them or set up a clothes swap with some friends.  A little wine, a pile of clothes and some good fun!

Try EBay. It's a bit of a hassle to photograph each thing and list it, BUT the last time I did it I made over $100 on 5 items. TOTALLY worth the time. You could even save time and sell them in a few "lots". And yeah, crossroads sucks.

Well - I had never heard of crossroads - but I'll never use them after this!  Too old!  I give you credit for not smacking the crap out of her!  Ha!  I made a huge decision recently (after my sweetheart told me that he could never share my closet because there's just no room for him there...)!  I got ALL of the clothes that were too small for me (even nighties!) and donated them all to Salvation Army (there's one on Folsom Boulevard near Coloma in Rancho Cordova).  The decision I made was that if I get down a couple sizes I DESERVE to buy myself new clothes!  So - someone who really needs some clothes gets them at a very inexpensive price - and I've lost 5 pounds - so I'm gonna be pretty happy soon too!!!   I also know what you mean about memories...  funny how a pair of jeans or a comfy sweater can bring back a great memory!
