The First grade or Kindergarten dilemma..should you hold your child back...one year on.
Rats..rats...rats....rats..rats..rats...rats...rats...rats...rats...rats... September boys - should you hold them back and repeat Kindergarten? Not necessarily. Is five years old too old for a boy to be changing in the women's locker room? Kindergarten or First Grade for 5 year old boys with Fall birthdays? Airborne, Zicam, Occillium, helathy living, hand sanitizer, flu shots..none if it works against the Brisbane strain... How to survive insomnia and still be a good Mom December 07 January 08 February 08 March 08 April 08 May 08 June 08 July 08 August 08 September 08 October 08 November 08 December 08 January 09 February 09 March 09 April 09 May 09 June 09 July 09 August 09 September 09 October 09 November 09 December 09 January 10 February 10 March 10 April 10 May 10 June 10 July 10

I posted earlier this year about this dilema and I made the decision not to hold him back. My son just turned 6 and is in first grade at a really nice public school in Sacramento. Many people advised me to hold my son back and repeat Kindergarten based solely on age and the fact that this is a magnet school, but I knew that he was ready. He can focus and hold his own socially in conversations with a few kids or more than a few. Overall I think we made the right decision and decided on the right school. I hope I still feel the same way closer to the end of the year.

Hello, Yes...you are his mother and know your son best. Kudos for you to do what you think is right even after getting the advice from others. It is always nice to hear stories and experiences from other parents to help us with our choices. Sounds like things are working out for you and your son. I wish you all the best. posted by
