roses123 - > If I Were Big -> If I Were Big
If I Were Big

      David was four years old and his brother Robert was three years old.  They were wishing they were big so they could do fun things.

     David said, "If your toes were longer, you could reach the pedals and ride a bike!"

     Robert said, "If your fingers were longer, you could hold a football better and throw it over the goalpost!"

     'If your neck was longer, " said David, "you could see the top of the hoop and throw basketballs inside it!"

     "If your legs were longer, " said Robert, "you could reach the floor and drive a car!"

     David said, "If we had big, strong shoulders, we could be body builders!"

     "If we had big stomachs, we could eat a whole pizza!" said Robert.

     Then their little sister Jewel came out and she said, "I can't go to kindergarten because I don't know how to do math."

     But one day, David and Robert rode their silver bikes everywhere and they threw footballs and they shot baskets.  David drove a big blue pickup with giant wheels and Robert drove a black Corvette with tail pipes and they went to school and work.  They both lifted weights in their backyard on a wooden deck.  And they could eat a whole pizza for their dinner!

     Those little boys must have grown long toes, long fingers, long necks, long legs, big shoulders, and big bodies - big enough to hold a whole pizza!

     And their little sister went to kindergarten and learned math and lots of other things.  Now she has little boys of her own who think . . . We could ride a bike if we had longer toes . . .
