OK .. it is a formula chick flick that was so funny... yeah yeah you know what happens but watch the faces of the extras at the bar when the male and female lead are kicking back the scotch!  It was delightful.  So when the move comes out later this week, put it on your list knowing that you are seeing a chick flick and yeah what you *know* happens happens, but wow have you ever seen a girl use the back of a cab as a dressing room like that before?

Thanks sacmomsclub for giving me a night out with friends and really great laughs!

OK being away was nice.  It was hard work, though.  Now the real work begins.  My hubby was a single parent for the week, the kids got feed, homework done, off to school ,off to soccer practice, off to a game and even a birthday party!  Wow what a lot of work.  Hubby did not take any time off he still did his 'day job" with little modification  He is a geologist and could not do much field work.  So now I am home I see that the kitchen got  tidied and laundry done.. yeah.. now i get to do all the other cleaning that guys must not think about... cleaning the floors, cleaning the bath rooms, and the PLAY room is a tip.

So now I am thinking what I can get the boys to do.. they like cleaning the floors so I think that we will tackle that first. :)  I also think that it is time to think seriously about giving them an allowance.  A model for allowance that was talked about this week was giving the child 3 allowances. The first allowance is money they can use right away, you make the house rules about what can be purchased, but this is theirs to use. The second is for savings, not college savings,  they can access this account once to twice  a year to buy something they really want.  The third is for charity, and they get to pick the charity, it can be church, school. the nature center, etc.  It is important that they pick the institution.  Giving them 3 allowances, instead of one big allowance teaches them financial management at a level they can understand, as they get older you can teach them percentages and other math skills that they will use later in life, like simple and compound interest.  I know that philantropy and savings are skills that we want to teach the boys right away with financial management!

Right now I am away.. I am at the Land Trust Rally in Denver, CO.  This is not the first time I have been away for 4 days, but this is the hardest.  I think because both of the boys are in school, and doing homework over the phone is just not the same, M the little on would not be fist kindergarten coloring assignment with out mommies help... LOL that was just we did color the bear together, since he is color blind M let daddy get the correct colors for him!
I am learning a lot and working on a database with out much "mommy, mommy"... I just guess I miss the boys more than I thought I would.

OK our house backs on to a park, I pass three parks on the way to our school.  The school has a park like setting.  Parks are all around us and it is hard to get to all of them.  Some times you even forget about a few really great ones!

We just got back form Gibson Ranch.  This is a county park on Elverta Road.  It has been years since I have been there.  There is a lake for fishing, great picnic ares and you can even horseback ride. Under 8's get to ride pony!  We did not do that this day as we were this for a three way birthday party for 3 year olds.  It was perfect.  As you drive in you get a great sense of the natural wonder that is the Sacramento valley.  You can see the Sutter Buttes, The Coastal Range and the Sierra Nevada.  Yes you are still in Sacramento County!  Check out their website: http://www.gibson-ranch.com... Maybe we can arrange a Sacmomsclub day out there.

As I stated in my title there are so many parks, and tonight our neighborhood association is having a potluck in the park.  So between this mornings Soccer match, yep at a park, the birthday parties and dinner, we will have visited 3 wonderful parks.

What are your favorite parks?

Ya!, I has so happy after this mornings meeting at the Sac Bee. I went to the Gold Discovery Park Association Executive Director, Deb and share with her my excitement!  So I hope that you will see more events on the board.  If you have never been to Coloma, you should take the drive up here.  It is pretty, there are easy hikes, and well this is were gold was discovered so by the time your little one is in 4th grade you should know all about this part of the world.  Back at the Nature Center we have over 40 kids on a nature hike, so I gave the parents a book mark.  I hope we get more moms!  The Nature Center is a wonderful place as I am writing this post children are talking about baby fox, and how their mommies take care of them.

You do not need to go far to explore nature, if you have not done it recently take your children on a walk up and down your street.  You will be amazed at all the different species of flora you will find.  You will also find bugs galore and you will see migrating birds.  Take a walk tomorrow and tell us what you see!
