Play School
The mom's group I am part of is in the beginning stages of creating a parent-child play school program for our toddlers, all nearing or just over the age of 1.  We are considering applying for a grant for funding, and trying to decide the "play based curriculum".

We had our first meeting today.  There were 14 parents attending, including one dad.  Everyone shared ideas on what they would like the play school to include. Some just want an opportunity for their children to play and interact with other kids their own age.  Others want a more structured approach.  I left the meeting feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Do you have any experience with participating in a play school with your children?

On of my fondest memories growing up is of my sister and I playing school. ALthough we claimed to hate it oh so much, that seemed to be something we always were doing...LOL! We would have pretend homework, one of us would be the teacher, we would be assigned jobs (like cleaning the clackboard); it was fun. I know this is not what you have in mind for the little ones, but I think your group is on to something. I would like to be a part of! Which play group is it? As a preschool teacher, I am sure I can come up with a lot of ideas. One right now that comes to mind is lots of musical instruments for the babies and incorporating a music program into your play school!

we have chosen the sacramento waldorf school for our little one.  this is her 2nd year "at school" and the whole thing is magical!  at this young age, the toddler program is one day a week for 2 hours.  the class is a max of 7 kids, and the accompaning adult.  it's a great way for the kids to socialize and play and for parents to get to know other parents.  let me know if you want more info.
