Compared to last Monday, today went great. The awesome thing about rainy days and high schoolers is that it actually calms them down. Not so with middle schoolers (who I taught for six fun-filled years.) Rainy days with a middle schooler: take a 2 liter of soda, shake real hard, and you know the rest. Well, a middle schooler is a bottle of pop with no lid. Now, multiply that by 35, add a couple of smart mouths, and a cry baby or two, and that was my former life.
High school is a much different (and better) story. They're all sleepy on rainy days and they just want to do quiet things and hush... It's awesome! Another thing to feel good about is that I exercised for an hour today. I've been meaning to start every work week with a workout (enough w's?!?), but it hasn't happened for the past month or so. And then I'm cramming four workouts into the end of the week. So fun. I was doing well with the weight loss this summer, but I kinda lost steam once school started. I feel refocused on it now that my sister's wedding is over. I'd really like to get my blood sugar under control. I know once I do, I'll probably get pregnant again and have to deal with the whole gestational diabetes nightmare. Well, I'm out. Off to a well deserved evening of watching mindless reality tv.

Sunday, October 28th, 2007 My daughter is now sleeping and my debit card should be in her crib too! It got quite the workout today. We went to Target and Trader Joe's and ended up filling up the cart both times. It's amazing how many things you need... Now I'm trying to relax (ha!) during her nap but I got a ton of things to do before she wakes up in an hour. I need to unpack the stuff from Target and clean up the kitchen and I want to get started on my niece's scrap book. A nap wouldn't be too bad either... Tomorrow begins yet another week at work. The students' grades are coming out, so that should keep them on their best behavior. I don't know though; I'll be happy if this week is less exciting than last. Here's the highlights from my week in my classroom last week: 1. A brick thrown through my window over the weekend, 2. Three rounds of boxing between two girls, and 3. A student threatening to slap me. And that was all before Wednesday. |
