Rapunzel I Aint

I really do wish I had Rapunzel hair. I truly do. I also wish for a million dollars and a pony. Being 35 I am also old enough to know we don't always get what we want!

With the exception of my cousin and aunt, my family doesn't have great hair. It's straight, thin and delicate. I couldn't grow my hair long if I tried for a hundred years locked in a tower. It's just not in my genes. My husband however has amazing, thick, curly hair that will never fall out (where as I already feel awkward about my lack of mane and tense up when I see my hair in the sink). Of course, our son got my hair. Poor lad.

It also doesn't help that I constantly futz with my hair. I always have! Many little girls went to school with their hair the exact same way every day. I however had my first home perm at age 2. I blame that stage-setting-trauma for why I now just can't leave well enough alone.

I decided today that I wanted my hair short again. Yup, today. So did I sleep on it? Talk it over with my husband? Nope, I looked up some pics on-line, printed them out and booked it to Supercuts. My lady there rolled her eyes, laughed, then gave me just what I wanted (I love it when that happens!)

When I look at pictures of myself, I always like it better longer. I love the day-to-day care and fun ness of short hair though! I can't escape the feeling that short hair = playful, fun, flirty, pixie, adventurous. Just as blonde=well, you know.. red=fiery temper and so on. It's interesting what a role hair can play in one's perceived personality.

Perhaps it the weight loss (-3 more lbs this week) or that spring is in the air. I was ready for short hair again. Now I just hope my man isn't too irritated about it! He claims to like it better long, but plays with it more when it's short. I don't blame him. I think it feels nice too. Let me know what you think (it's hard to take pics of your own head. Especially the back!)

Have a great weekend!

I love it! It's super cute! I wish I could have hair like that, but my face is totally wrong for it. I love cutting my hair short; it's really rejuvenating.

Awww, thanks! I'm glad you like it. You're right. It is rejuvenating. Very fresh start feeling. My son doesn't like it. He said I look like a cross between Judge Judy and the British lady on Weakest Link. Ouch! He sure knows how to hurt a girl!

You're too sweet JFTB. I always look forward to your comments (and am glad you didn't leave!)
My husband thinks it's cute (at least that's what he told me). I like the color right now too. I haven't had it this short in a long time. I'm just making sure I wear earrings and full makeup so no one will think I'm a boy. Hahaha.

I'm really not sure what it is with guys and long hair. It's something primal I guess. What distinguishes men from women. WHATEVER! All I know is, whenever my hair gets long enough to pull back into a clip, that's all I ever want to do with it. I hate it on my face, my neck, blowing in my mouth, caught in the car door. Sure it looks great when I spend an hour on it with tons of product and rollers. But who (besides a Playboy Playmate) has that kind of time or money? Fast, easy, cute and fun.

I'm sure I'll grow it out again, but for now I like it. ;)

It's really cute! Of course, I too have a preference for short hair and I think I'm married to the only man on the planet who likes short hair, so that works out good. I just broke up with my hair stylist of 8 years because she just couldn't get it right and I looooove the way my new stylist cut it into a graduated bob, so it's mostly one length now after having it short and layered for years...a big change for me. Plus, I just discovered how great the flat iron is so my hair actually looks the same from day to day and not a big surprise each time I style it...I think you should take some of that really super duper gel and spike it up a bit! Have fun!

I love it! You look so stylish.  My girlfriend had super long hair  but one morning woke up and looking at the magazines in the bathroom came across picture of Nataly Portman decided to go short. Her hairdresser cried and tried to convince her to do only half first and adjust to new image. she said- right here and right now!
And she looks amazing now! I wish I was so brave!
Cant wait to see you for a coffee!

Heheh. Thanks! I had fun playing with it this weekend and doing fun stuff to it. It came out good yesterday. Now if I can only remember what I did!

Very sassy...tres chic! Looks great. I used to sport the short, flippy do, but it's time for a change. I've decided to let mine grow. We'll see how long before I say, "cut it off"!
