Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt
Looking for a family adventure? We can help. In fact, family adventure is our specialty.
When we opened our brick and mortar store in Old Sacramento in June, before the first drop of paint went on the wall, before the signs were hung, even before the travelbug sticker was placed in the window, we started building the Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt.
What is it? The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt is a free working example of a concept that we call an “Educational Expedition” where parents blend education and outdoor recreation to create family adventure.
We coined the term Educational Expedition to describe what we do on the Trailmix.Net Blog back in 2007, and have been refining the idea ever since. The gist of it is this: grab the kids, set a goal that balances education and outdoor recreation, go on an adventure. Repeat.
To get started, visit The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt website and click the button to download the Adobe PDF file. In it, you will find instructions, a treasure map of Old Sacramento, and all of the scavenger hunt riddles.  The website also has introductory information about the places that you will visit, as well as links for more information.
When you solve all of the riddles, be sure to stop by the Trailmix.Net store in Old Sacramento (right across the street from the California State Railroad Museum) to claim your free prize and check out Northern California's original and best selection of family adventure products.
