Walk your way into Fitness

Sometimes we all need a little motivation to make the time to exercise. But getting back into a regular fitness routine can be especially tough when you’re trying to juggle work, family and life in general. Perhaps it’s been awhile since you’ve worked out or it’s been so long that you don’t know where to begin.

Together with Fleet Feet Sports, SacMomsClub wants to provide one mom the opportunity to unlock her inner athlete and train to walk (or walk/run) her first 5k race by participating in the No Boundaries Training program.

No Boundaries is a national program started by Fleet Feet Sports and sponsored by New Balance. It’s a 10-week program designed for inactive or minimally active people. You will be trained and motivated by coaches, receive information to improve your overall fitness and develop the habits of a healthy lifestyle while preparing for the Run to Feed the Hungary 5k on Thanksgiving morning.

Simply tell us about your fitness goals, why you would like to participate and one lucky mama will randomly be selected to walk her way to a healthier lifestyle. Oh, and you’ll also get a free pair of New Balance shoes!

If you're already involved in a regular fitness routine, nominate a deserving mom.

Post your response by August 14. Winner will be selected on August 15.

I want to be healthy and have more energy to participate in activities with my children.  I have always wanted to run in a race; but I have never had the motiviation to train.  The No Boundaries Training program would be the way to acheive my goal for participating in a race and engage in a healthy lifestyle change.

I am a single mom of a 10 year old and 4 month old. I am 4'10 and for the last few years I weighed 164 pound (BMI 35-38). Although I walked 1 mile each 15 minute break I coud not lose weight. I did not know I was pregnant til i was 5 months along and during the last 4 months I has gestational diabetics, high blood pressure, anemia and depression. I gained only 15 pounds and after labor dropped down to 145 pounds. I am feeling better now and have stopped taking blood pressure pills and iron supplements but am starting to gain the weight back, I am at 154 pounds. When I can get a neighbor to go with me (usually 2-3xs a week) we will walk about a mile around the neighborhood but I know I can and shoud do more. I am worried about the weight gain because this week my lower back has been aching me and I haven't had lower back pain since I have been off of work. I know that a structure fitness plan will motivate to exercise more and doing so will improve my health and wellbeing. Thank you for considering me for your program.

For most of my adult life I've been saying I need to start an exercise program.  I have started multiple time and never kept it up.  I find it the most motivating to work out, especially walk, with others.  I have a very physical job and two young children...getting in shape and making it a lifestyle change is long overdue.

Wow what a great opportunity to get fit and help others by raising money to feed the hungry.   I would love to be entered into the contest for the Fleet Feet Training.  The extra help and motivation with the thought  that you could make your stand against fat and un-fitness on Thanksgiving day is just marvelous and somehow a little poetic.  I would certainly be a good model student and inspiration for others in the group because heaven knows if I could do it then anybody could!!    As a lady in my upper 30's I am staring down the big 40 and would really love to turn my health and fitness level around!  And as the mom of a 5 & 3 year old I could certainly use the extra energy!!

My fitness goal is to reach the healthiest point in my life physically...which follows with being mentally and emotionally fit.  I took my time finding happiness in my career and now I have accomplished that. So my next goal is to be physically fit for me and my daughter as well. .She's 3 yrs old and I would just love it if I'm able to get involved in physical activities with her such as running, riding bikes, walking...etc. With working two jobs, I need something to motivate me and almost force me to be active and excercise. If I do win and prepare to race, that would be a big goal meaning big accomplishment later! Cross my fingers on winning this one!

I'm planning on exercising more routinely, doing more walking, and cycling on our stationary bike.  The No Boundaries program would give me a great motivation to re-establish an exercise routine that allows me balance a busy work and family schedule with a time-efficient workout routine -- i.e. and help me improve my stamina and energy to help me keep up with my twins as they get older and more active.

My goal is to be more comfortably active. I want to have the energy and stamina to keep up with my busy-bee daughter. If I shed a few pounds that's great too. But ultimately, I'd like to just feel better in my own skin.

This sounds like the perfect program for me.  I haven't really exercised since I had my first kid 8 years ago.  I need to drop at least 40 pounds and improve my overall health.   Thanks for the opportunity to win a life-changing experience.

My fitness goal is simple to state, but really hard to fulfill (even though, it’s not sophisticated at any way): I want to be healthy and fit.

For me, that includes not just to maintain the healthy weight, but also to exercise on the regular basis (preferably both cardio and weight lifting), eat right and have emotional/mental peace with myself and surrounding world. I know, that will bring into my every day routine so much better life quality and improve relationship with friends, family, co-workers, etc. It seems that most of us have enough knowledge about fitness in general, but when it comes into putting some actions into play, then we have all those excuses like we are busy, tired or have other commitments. I believe that program like No Boundaries Training program will finally put me on schedule to actually start DOING thing and not just TALKING about them. Thank you for providing such a great opportunity!!!

I had my first child almost one year ago and have not been able to get the weight off.  I am a First grade teacher who tries to help inspire my students to reach for the stars no matter what the obsticle. I am training to be a birth doula so I can help young teen moms have an amazing birth experience and feel supported during this major change in their lives.  I feel that in order to do this I want to be in the best shape possible.  I want to be healthy and strong for my son.  I want to lose the weight so I can play with him and be around to watch him grow.  I have always been very involved with different non-profits.  I would love to run marathons in the name of these wonderful organizations.  I want to be ashining example for my son and my students that when you are healthy you can accomplish all of your dreams and help others accomplish theirs.

As the famous line from "American Beauty" goes. . . "I want to look better naked."  That being said, I'd like to tone things up and increase my kid chasing energy.

I have come from a long line of unhealthy women, and now is the time to change. I want to be able to be a role model for my daughters and lose weight so that I can live a long healthy life. I am a single mom, who works full time and at the end of my work day I am too tired to interact with my children. I want to lose at least 50 pounds and in the process better my overall health. I dont want to have my life cut short like my mother and grandmother due to heart issues.
