Nike Women's Fitness Festival
Congratulations to all of you moms (and moms-to-be) that participated in the Nike Women's 5k Fitness Festival this past weekend. Thanks for stopping by the SacMomsClub booth and spinning the "wheel of fortune". We gave away t-shirts, band aids, post it notes and the coveted running socks! Tell us about your race experience (first 5k, training for another race, great running day, bad walking day) and one lucky mama will randomly be selected to win a $50 Fleet Feet gift card! Brodie, Lucas, and I parked at 17th and Capitol Sunday morning before the Nike Women's Fitness Festival and 5K run/walk. We enjoyed walking through Capitol Park as we made our way to the event. We enjoyed the beautiful colors and sweet smells of roses as we walked through the Rose Garden for Peace. Once we reached the Capitol, we were surrounded by thousands of women of all ages excited to begin the race. Jamba Juice was there passing out free smoothies. Yum! We started the 5K race in the back. When I run with the twins in the running stroller, I am very careful to stay out of the way of other runners and walkers. I want to make sure everyone around us feels comfortable. I don't want anyone to think they are going to be run over by the wheels on my stroller. Part of the fun of running in a race with the stroller is the challenge of safely passing people. We eventually made our way weaving and swerving through the pack, to the finish line. As we crossed the finish line, volunteers were passing out bottles of water and Vitamin Water. There was also fruit and bagels to snack on, as we made our way around to visit the different booths at the Fitness Festival. Thank you SacMomsClub.com for the running socks! What a fun way to spend a Sunday morning.

I ran the Nike Women's Fitness Festival last year and loved it. Unlike last year, this time me and my little pregnant belly walked the race. It's such a special thing to share with my child to be and I was thrilled at seeing so many other moms! I can't wait to run the race again next year behind a stroller!
