Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small. We haven't time - and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.

Whenever I take photographs I love to get right up close in the action, usually of a flower. The parts where people don't see with their eyes when enjoying one. I didn't realize just how O'Keefe I was being till learning more about her. I personally try to find beauty and inspiration where others just walk on by (like her.)

This is a great blog idea. There are so many inspirational women through the ages, it's really hard to just pinpoint one.

One of the women who has had the biggest impact on me is my paternal grandmother, Evelyn. She passed away on Feb. 14, 2006--just a few short months before my second daughter was born. She was a true example of hard work, Swedish determination, and strength. She never looked back, only forward. Both my sister and myself named one of my daughters after her. My daughter Ava (age 4) and my sister's daughter Evelyn (age 1 15 months). From the time that my parents divorced, we spent the summers with her at my dad's house. Her dry sense of humor and blatant honesty framed my vision of the world. I'm a better person for having known her.

Who inspires you?
It's National Women's History Month a time to acknowledge the vital role that women’s dreams and accomplishments play in our own lives.  We draw strength and inspiration from those who came before us – and those remarkable women working among us today.  They are part of our story, and a truly balanced and inclusive history recognizes how important women have always been in American society.

Is there a woman who inspires you? What womens' stories have made an impact on your life? Who is your favorite woman in history? Share your thoughts with us.

The National Womens History Project has a website rich with resources to learn about and celebrate women in history - check it out and be inspired. While on the site, be sure to visit the blog for interesting moments in history and their relevance to today.

I've been learning more about the brilliant Georgia O'Keefe this week in my Art History class and must say that I find her very inspirational. She bucked the traditional in effort to follow her own muse (in a time when women, and artists, just didn't do that!) Here's a wonderful quote from her.
