Isn't being a Mom great?!

This morning my 13 month old son decided to wake up really early. So, groggily I brought him in bed with me - fantasizing that I would get "just 5 more minutes." I set him up in my arms with cartoons on TV and tried to catch some more zzz's. He laughs and points at the TV and names all the animals he sees. I can't help but smile with my eyes closed. I realize that "5 more minutes" is just a pipe dream and reluctantly get up and go about our morning routine wondering if coffee could be made into an I.V. I drop him off at daycare and blow kisses with a sigh. Leaving him always tugs at my heart, but that smile and little wave I get as I drive off is priceless.

While I was out and about running errands between work appointments, I ran into a pregnant soon-to-be Mom. I just love meeting new Mommies! It takes me back to the days before my son was born, that feeling of anticipation and bliss (those pregnancy hormones really quick in!) We got to talking and I went away from the conversation just so thankful that I'm blessed to be a mom - even when I'm battling exhaustion. Thank God that something small usually happens in those moments of frustration or days when you just want to crawl back in bed and not be bothered that make you stop and wonder at the miracle of motherhood.

It seems like no matter where you go, you can always strike up conversation with another Mom because either you talk about, "When are you due?, Is it your first?, Do you know what you're having?" Or maybe you just exchange a knowing glance when you see a Mom struggling to open doors with stroller, purse, diaper bag, umbrella and phone or when little Jr. decides that he's just had too much and needs to go home while throwing the most embarrassing fit. Not only is motherhood so gratifying (although sometimes you wonder, "What did I get myself into?"), but it unites total strangers and lets you share a little of yourself when normally you wouldn't. Thanks fellow Moms!

I really love your article it made me laugh,I too have mornings like what you experianced I have a 18 month old daughter and I can hear threw the baby moniter when she wakes up and think maybey she will go back to bed or just for 5 more minutes yeah right! Anyway I love seeing other moms or I notice parents or mothers more now than before when it was just me, and it is true you can srike up a conversation either with mommys to be or mothers and its like you can relate on a lot of topics about parenting or motherhood. I love being  a mother rather than a life with just me or just me and my husband I like family life, and of course their are times when I too say what did I get myself into? But I would not change this lifesyle for anything now that I have my daughter.Thesedays my daughter teaches me how to live while I teach her how to talk. I just half to say it is a great joy to be a mom and meet other moms.  Thanks,

Being a mom is the best job in the world. So gratifying and rewarding all at the same time.

I agree. I always enjoy meeting and talking with other moms. Whenever I see other moms, as you described, with stollers, diaper bags, sippy cups and the look of exhaustion, I always ask myself, "is that what I look like?" Well, of course.

That's a very good point. My favorite example is how a cocktail party full of strangers can become a tale of labor woes within 20min if the women have children. It's a primal bonding experience.

Sounds like your day ended up being a not so bad one afterall. Thanks for sharing!
