I just read that Randy Pausch died of pancreatic cancer today. He was the professor whose "Last Lecture" became a huge sensation. If you have not heard the lecture, you can watch it on YouTube, here's a link to a video of him on Oprah's show: http://www.youtube.com/watc.... The lecture was really meant for his children and talks about achieving childhood dreams. It's a very powerful video, I hope you take a few moments out of your day to watch it and pass it on to your loved ones. While we remember this brave man, it is just a reminder that we are not guaranteed tomorrow; each day is a gift. And it begs the questions, "What would you want to instill in your children if you knew that you had a short time to live? What kind of legacy do you want to leave?"

This morning my 13 month old son decided to wake up really early. So, groggily I brought him in bed with me - fantasizing that I would get "just 5 more minutes." I set him up in my arms with cartoons on TV and tried to catch some more zzz's. He laughs and points at the TV and names all the animals he sees. I can't help but smile with my eyes closed. I realize that "5 more minutes" is just a pipe dream and reluctantly get up and go about our morning routine wondering if coffee could be made into an I.V. I drop him off at daycare and blow kisses with a sigh. Leaving him always tugs at my heart, but that smile and little wave I get as I drive off is priceless.

While I was out and about running errands between work appointments, I ran into a pregnant soon-to-be Mom. I just love meeting new Mommies! It takes me back to the days before my son was born, that feeling of anticipation and bliss (those pregnancy hormones really quick in!) We got to talking and I went away from the conversation just so thankful that I'm blessed to be a mom - even when I'm battling exhaustion. Thank God that something small usually happens in those moments of frustration or days when you just want to crawl back in bed and not be bothered that make you stop and wonder at the miracle of motherhood.

It seems like no matter where you go, you can always strike up conversation with another Mom because either you talk about, "When are you due?, Is it your first?, Do you know what you're having?" Or maybe you just exchange a knowing glance when you see a Mom struggling to open doors with stroller, purse, diaper bag, umbrella and phone or when little Jr. decides that he's just had too much and needs to go home while throwing the most embarrassing fit. Not only is motherhood so gratifying (although sometimes you wonder, "What did I get myself into?"), but it unites total strangers and lets you share a little of yourself when normally you wouldn't. Thanks fellow Moms!
