This past weekend Shannon Miller, the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history visited Sacramento. Shannon Miller was being honored at the Monarch's Women of Inspiration Night that took place on Saturday evening. She was also in town visiting some local gymnastics clubs and getting the word out about the upcoming 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars. She was all over town with appearances on the local news channels and gymnastic club appearances at Byers Gymnastics in Sacramento and Technique Gymnastics in Rancho Cordova. The U.S. Olympic Gymnastics team is back in the U.S. and ready to tour the country. The U.S. men's team surprised everyone withan amazing 3rd place finish. With all of the setbacks they faced, they proved everyone wrong. They claimed the Bronze Medal!
The U.S. women's team wins the Silver. With a few too many mistakes to overtake China, the women claim a bittersweet second place spot. It's not the gold, but any medal at the Olympic Games is an amazing accomplishment and something to be proud of. These women are truely among the best in the world.
