BYOB Giveaway
BYOB - Bring Your Own Bag!Earlier this week, our "Shop Cheap" editor Pam Dinsmore wrote about Down to Earth's locally handmade shopping bags that last: They're beautiful, eco-friendly, custom designs that sell for $6. They hold 40-pounds of groceries and are cute enough to use for more than a trip to the store.
This week we're giving away a prize package that puts one of those handy-dandy shopping bags to good use:

And what a tasty handmade shopping bag. I do my best to ALWAYS remember to bring mine to the grocery store with me. What better way to help out our stores in a rough economy then by bringing our own bags in. And not to mention, most grocery stores will give you 5 cents off for ever bag that you use. =) posted by

I don't eat cheese, so topping a pizza used to be a challenge. Over time I've discovered several tasty toppings that can be used with any of the traditional items (tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, etc.) Try these: shredded baked tofu; pressed and crumbled tofu mixed with Italian spices; drizzle of creamy (non-dairy)white sauce; shredded soy, rice, or other alternative cheese. Or just leave off the cheese substitutes altogether and pile on grilled vegetables.

My yummiest pizza has mushrooms, olives, onions, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, chicken, and loads of mozzarella cheese! My husband and son won't eat any of this, but that is my favorite pizza.

I love mushrooms, but also really simple sliced tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, and basil (and mozzarella of course!). I am hoping that there is a typo in the "fine print" as it says entries must have been received in January. Did you mean February 13?

We make pizza at home a lot, and our favorite combo is roasted red peppers, slivered red onions, sliced Boccalone (from Oakland) salami, and a four-cheese mixture. We turn up our oven as high as it will go and use a pizza stone.

On special occasions when I deviate from everyday ham and pineapple, I like smoked salmon, capers and red onion.

Is the contest end date wrong?? My favorite topping is one I make for my pizza, it is caramelized onions and caramelized garlic paste, the kind you make from roasting whole garlic on the oven. I smear the garlic paste onto fresh baked pizza bread then top with caramelized onions. Just don't make this for valentine's day. posted by
