JetWithKids - > Jet With Kids -> Hello Sacramento Moms!
Hello Sacramento Moms!

I am new to Sac Mom's Club - and wanted to introduce myself and my blog.  First I have to warn all that I am long winded when I get on a topic that I am passionate about....

However, I will keep this first post short. My name is Anya Clowers - my passion is travel - and before I was a mom, everyone told me that I would never travel once I had kids.  So my husband and I had a list of places to see "before we had kids" and...it kept getting longer and longer.  Because really - who wanted to be the parent with the screaming baby on the plane?

And then one day as I reviewed our upcoming trip itinerary to Tokyo and Singapore, I found out I was pregnant!

WOW - that one just about knocked me over. Now what?

Well I knew one thing - that trip was NOT getting canceled - and I definitely was on my way to being a parent! So - I realized - there must be a way to do both- successfully! I then remembered the couple that we had met in Thailand - who said they traveled the world with their kids and loved it. That it was just a "different" sort of trip -and you must prepare for it to be so.

Well , at the time they told me that - I thought "different" meant bad - I rethought it - and promised myself that I would research and discover the best way and turn "different" into "unique".  I interviewed flight attendants, pilots, gate agents, travel agents, pediatricians, friends, business travelers (yes - there is a reason for this one) and more!

The result? A book - a son who traveled on 10 overseas flights by the time he was 3 - and a new career!

My passion is now to find the very best of products, services, and tips for anyone traveling with young children - infant, toddlers, pre-schoolers (oh and the pregnant moms too!). I also write for medical organizations for parents who are traveling with sick kids to medical appointments, children's hospitals, or their much needed vacation.

I turned the research and writing into a website and newsletter and then a blog and finally - into travel seminars.

The travel seminars are free to attend and are entertaining and beneficial. Without going into too much detail on my initial blog - I will just say - if you are traveling with young kids - don't miss it!

I fly monthly and learn something new every time.  So even if you are a veteran traveler - take a look over here every now and then. You may be surprised!

These seminars are the first of their kind - I only select what I use - and have maintained control of my seminar that way - (not one company just promoting their products and offering a few tips on the side)

OH! I promised to keep this short -...well...

Welcome to "Jet With Kids" - here's to a great journey!

What a brilliant idea. Don't you love it when you fall into your dream career like that. Good for you for making it work AND making money while you're at it. :)

Oh, and WELCOME!

Hi!  And Welcome!

I will be interested to read what you have to write on the subject of air travel with kids.  I have the car travel routine nailed down as I have been making the drive to San Diego twice a year with my triplets since they were 10 months old (and once to Phoenix too!).

But I have not been brave enough to try traveling by air with them yet.

TripletDad and I went to China on business last August and people would ask me, " are you taking the kids?"  I was like, "Are you kidding me?"  It seemed way to daunting.  The factory owners we visited asked if we would bring the kids next time we visited.  I figured I would consider that when they were around 10 years old...

Who knows, maybe you will make be believe we could at least take them on a trip to Hawaii to visit their cousins (I've always wanted to visit Hawaii, but I have not yet been).

Congratulations on your book and your writing. It's tough to be a mom and a writer at the same time! Good job!

What a great story!!

We travel by car constantly, and my kids love it. I have taken them overseas twice by myself, now it will be easier since they are a bit older :). I worked for the airlines, so I had a lot of knowledge about flying that a normal traveler would not have access too, so your info is great. It can be a sanity saver, LOL!

Hola Anya,

It was very interesting reading your blog. I have  2 boys, a 4 and a 3 year-old and I have traveled with them mostly by plane since I was pregnant.  All my family lives in Mexico City and we visit 2 to 3 times a year.  It was easy (now in perspective) to travel with a little baby but once I got pregnant with the second  and Danny was a moving baby then the fun started big time; with a baby and pregnant is a whole new story.   Now traveling with a one year old and a new born, well I can even describe it!  The boys are now older and it seems a bit easier but not much.  Depending on  the airline we take things can change drastically (red eye, they sleep but migration sucks with 2 whiners), during the day (too much activity going on but movies are just salvation); it is still hard for me.  I tell my mom I get 100 grey hairs each trip.  I'm looking forward on reading more about tips for travel.  Our trips to Mexico, Canada and Southern cal to visit family will never end, I hope so I'm so looking forward on learning good tricks and stories.  I teach Spanish 4 Tots downtown if you like to expand your kids vocabulary for all the Central and South America trips you may do in the future!
