Vegas Baby!
That's right, my husband and I went to Las Vegas this last weekend on our first vacation ALONE since having kids ... that would be our FIRST VACATION ALONE in 5 years and one month. And it felt good. No cutting up chicken fingers at dinner, no kid-friendly restaurants with crayons and kids menus, no whining, no naps, no wipes and diapers, no cartoons, no cheerios, no need for one of us to stay sober to take the babysitter home or drive anywhere... Hey, we even got to sleep in until 8:30 am and take showers before making pancakes! We got to get dressed up and we didn't have to worry about butter stains from kids fingers and all butter pasta either! Did we miss the kids - sure. But they didn't seem to miss us. We called twice a day while we were gone to check in and they could care less ... in fact we were interrupting their play time with grandma and grandpa and thought of it as their vacation away from us! We walked, talked, ate at expensive fantastic restaurants, saw some celebrities, and made out like teenagers... We really needed this trip - Not just for fun. Not just for a break from work. Not just to reconnect. Not just to have crazy hotel sex. Not just to remind us how much fun we have together. But to reinforce that fact that we are best friends and that is why we got married in the first place! If you haven't taken a vacation without your kids in a while... I highly recommend it. That sounds like so much fun! My husband and I spent a weekend together for our anniversary this year and it was a great time.

Woo hoo! Sounds like it was a fantastic time. We have yet to take a vacation without the little ones. Some day...some day!
