Date Night...
I was just curious to see how often other parents go out on a date night? Do you have a favorite place to go?

Anyone been up to the snow lately?
Very soon we will be heading up to the snow. Since it will only be a day trip we don’t want to drive all the way up to Tahoe. Does anyone have any recommendations on a place to go sledding that is not to far away?

Thanks!

Let me check with my in-laws and get back to you. They live in Placerville and are constantly in the snow. I know they have some choice spots.

There was a great article in The Bee in early Jan. about the Yuba Gap snow park...I searched online and here's the link:

Be sure to pay special attention to the right hand column that has directions, cost, etc. Have fun!

I think there is at least one if not a couple good sleding places up off of I-80 at the exit where Sugar Bowl, Donner, and Boreal are.  The drive is not quite as far and it is on I-80 opposed to Highway 50 so usually better conditions too.  We went up to Tahoe about a month ago and I have not tried sledding yet, but looking forward to it.  I guess I still think my baby is too small-who am I kidding she is a full on toddler now!

We go up to ths great place off of the beaten path.  It's not as crowded as the others and they have an escalator that take syou to the top of the hill.  Check out the website: www.tubesrus.net

We just took our kids up to the SnoPark at the Yuba Gap exit on a Wednseday, Feb 6.  The park is called 'Snowflower'. We decided it was worth taking our 5 yr old trio out of school for one day to avoid the crowds.  Plus the timing, with the recent rain, couldn't have been better.
It was  a glorious day and everyone had a great time.  You can't beat the price either.  We paid $12 for the 5 of us.

This was the third year in a row we took our snow day at this particular SnoPark.

A word of advice, though; call around ahead if you want to do this on a weekday.  We thought it was closed at first, so we turned around and headed farther up the mountain.  We found two other snow parks but one only allows snow play on the weekend and the other charges $20 per person! That one comes with tubes and a moving carpet that takes you up, but no place to just play with snow.  Luckily, I called SnowFlower back out of desperation and found them open, they just opened later than they normally do because of snowplow issues.

We take our sand toys because besides tubing, our kids just like to dig and play with the snow too.

Hope this helps!
