Handmad Holidy Ideas?
Greetings All,
For the last few years my family and I do our best to make handmade gifts for family and friends during the holidays. Last year we made paper journals (my husband did this. It cost more and took him longer than he thought), bath salts (man cub did this. It was easy, fun and pretty) and handmade lip balms and candles (harder than I thought and I'd hoped it would come out better than it did.)
This year I'm thinking of making my own all natural cleaning supplies and putting them all in a little bag or basket. I'm not sold on the idea yet though, and would love to hear what you've made for other people as gifts. My husband's family always comes across with amazing stuff and I'd like to do the same. Here's what we've gotten from them in the past:
-microwavable corn filled heating pads.
-handmade slippers, gloves, scarves and hats.
-bookmarks
-treats of all kinds
-wooden peg game
-DVD's of old family movies
-recipe book (handmade and full of recipe's)
So, you see what I'm up against! Any ideas? Websites you love? ![]()

Re: Handmad Holidy Ideas?
Personally, I'd love to have your blogs bound in a book to remind me that there is light at the end of the tunnel, to put a skip to my step when feeling the blahs and something to read and enjoy when trying to relax (with a glass of wine).... really!!
But what I've done is the traditional cookie thing, though its a lot of work and well... I'm not one to eat a lot of cookies.
How about home-made jams/jellies... great for early morning breakfasts? I know there are a lot of great fruit stands in your area. Or perhaps a new family favorate recipe to add to that recipe book someone made (love those). Great topic!! especially with the holidays coming far too quickly!

Re: Handmad Holidy Ideas?
YOU'VE just made my day... no wait... my week! Thanks so much for the very kind compliment.
I love the jelly/jam idea. Good thinking. I've never done it before though. My problem is that I try things for the first time ever, buy all the supplies, then find it's hard, expensive and I'm not that good at it. Already done the jewelry thing btw, so that's out.
I like the recipes to add to the book that everyone got from my sister-in-law. Good idea!
One year I did family tree research for months, then made everyone their own personalized copy to keep. That was pretty cool (and free to research. Just took time.)
Thanks for the suggestions KEEP THEM COMING! ![]()

Thanks for sharing. It looks like these classes are only for children though? AND it looks like they're in Roseville? I'm in Davis.
