In 1958, Barbara Sansoni, a colourist and artist, created the BAREFOOT concept out of a need for a rehabilitation program for young Sri Lankan women, who had little schooling and no skills. Today, BAREFOOT is a premier textile design company exporting worldwide. High quality workmanship and handwork are not cheap substitutes for machinery, which is why BAREFOOT products are relatively expensive and will last a lifetime. Each worker earns a real living wage, so they can support themselves and their families.
Nothing is mass produced! Each toy is fully handcrafted by one person from start to finish under fair trade regulations. These toys are made with handwoven cotton fabric and filled with natural kapok fiber. Only premium Swiss colourfast and non-toxic dyes are used for these brilliant colours. Delightfully bright and cuddly they are safe for babies and small children.
